Meet My Dogs

Being a member of the dog sport community for over 16 years means I am well versed in a variety of situations and have trained many dogs in various capacities.  This knowledge and experience gets applied to every dog that is under my care to make sure they have the best experience possible during their stay.

Hadley and Miah

Hadley is a 10 year old Belgian Malinois that is highly titled in W3PO weight pull, holds an MR2 title in Mondioring, has obedience titles with AKC, has scent work titles with NACSW, and has several NADD dock diving titles.  She had to retire from Mondioring due to injury so now she is working towards additional scent work titles with NACSW as a retirement sport.  Her favorite thing to do outside of training is chewing on a kong, but she loves to work and do things for me no matter what it is.  She is truly a lot of dog to live with even at her age and she doesn't have much of an off-switch.

Hadley experienced a severe soft tissue injury around the age of 6 and due to her breed and ability to work through the pain it went unnoticed for several months.  This injury ultimately led to her early retirement from mondioring.  She worked closely with a rehab specialist for many years to finish out her career in mondioring and to continue doing the things she loves as long as she can.  She now goes to a chiropractor and receives acupuncture, is on several supplements, and occasionally needs medications.  She also recieves monthly, at home, adequan injections.

Blitz

CHWPD5, CHWPDW1, CHWPDR1, Red Rocket’s Billy CGC, CGCA, WPDW, WPDXW, WPDSW, WPDR, WPDXR, WPDSR, WPDS, WPDXS, WPDSS

Blitzkrieg aka Blitz is an 9 year old Belgian Malinois that is highly titled in weight pull with W3PO and he holds several AKC obedience titles.  He enjoys weight pull more than any other sport we have tried, but his favorite thing is playing frisbee.  He also enjoys watching TV with his favorite triceratops toy, playing tug, going hiking or on walks, and sunbathing.  Blitz is now retried from weight pull and hiher-impact sports and is losing some of his vision, but that hasn't slowed him down at all.  He still loves a good game of fetch.

Blitz is a special needs dog and was recently diagnosed with Pannus, which is an autoimmune condition that affects the cornea and clear part of the eye.  During flare ups, he requires daily eye medications.  He must also wear Rex Specs as needed to help minimize UV exposure that can make his condition worsen.  He also recieves monthly, at home, adequan injections to help manage his arthritis to continue with his active lifestyle.

Tsar

CHWPD BDK/MMWD's Tsar Bomba WPA, WPDW, WPDXW, WPDSW, WPDSR, WPDSS

Tsar is a 4 year old American Pitbull Terrier.  He has already earned several titles in weight pull with W3PO.  He also enjoys sunbathing, snuggling under the covers, and anything that involves food.  Tsar is also affectionately called "Potato" since he was very tiny as a puppy and was the size of a potato.

Tsar requires a monthly at-home allergy injection to help maintain his severe environmental allergies.  He is also allergic to eggs so his diet and supplements cannot include eggs.  He also gets baths often during allergy season to help prevent skin infections.  Tsar has extreme anxiety and panics in new settings if he feels afraid, often without much warning.  Through training he is now functional where he feels comfortable, but he still struggles in new places.  Since his extreme fear response poses a danger to his safety, he is now on medication to help him cope with the things that he finds scary in the world.

Fu

Lobifu RN, FITB, DS, DMA, DE, HDS, WPDW, WPDXW, WPDSW, ORT

Fu is a 4 year old Belgian Malinois that has titles in dock diving, Rally, scent work, and weight pull.  He also dabbles in flyball, but he loves anything where he can go full speed and unleash his crazy side for a toy.  Fu is named after a rabbit, but he isn't friendly at all and only likes his mom.  He truly loves just doing anything with me, even if it's curling up in bed or watching TV.  This boy has energy for days, but thankfully he also has a wonderful off-switch around the house.

Fu was a behavioral modification case that required extensive training to show him that people aren't scary and that he could have lots of fun even with strangers around.  He does not like people, never has and he never will, but now he will tolerate them, and he will even play with some people with his tug toy.  He still gets anxious at times, but with proper training he is now able to play in a variety of sports.

Vixen

JK9s Foxy Lady CWP, ORT

Vixen is a 3 year old border collie that is a foster failure from a severe neglect, abuse, and hoarding home where she was also attacked by other dogs and spent her entire life in a crate.  A friend contacted me about 2 dogs in need and asked if I could go get them after seeing a post on Craigslist.  Once I heard they were border collies I rushed to meet the former owner and purchase the dogs knowing the prior owner had a history of mistreating animals.  After spending several weeks with Vixen, I realized despite her past that the dog truly loved to learn and to work.  She is very intelligent, enjoys training and learning new tasks, and she is truly a very special dog.  We formed a unique bond that cannot be replicated and she has earned a permanent place in my home.  Much of her early months with me were spent learning to just be a normal dog.  While she has made great progress,  we are always working on undoing her past and creating a present and a future where she will continue to thrive.  Vixen competes in weight pull, scent work, and is learning how to play flyball and dock diving.  She has truly become an incredible partner.

Alex

Jump! Might as Well Jump von Arktis

Alex is a 1 year old boxer and he is my newest addition.  He is a working boxer and is my IGP prospect.  I have never done IGP before, so it will be a new adventure for the both of us.  His name "Alex" was inspired by my former boxer Loki Alexander and from his sire's name Alek.  The registered name also goes along with the music theme I have for all of my dogs.  He is a J litter puppy, so the song Jump and the name Alex is also a tribute to Alex Van Halen.

Loki Alexander Hoerath CGC, CGCA, CGCU

Loki, a boxer, was my first dog as an adult on my own and he threw me into the dog training world.  He got kicked out of several dog training facilities and we ended up with a balanced trainer due to his severe dog aggression issues.  He trained in obedience, weight pull, and scent work during his prime and in his golden years he mostly enjoyed naps and going on walks or hiking.  He sadly passed away from a mass on his spleen at 10 years old.

Loki was a special needs dog and needed a ton of special care throughout his life, including behavior modification due to his aggression issues.  He had extremely severe environmental and food allergies that had to be constantly managed.  He was actually highly allergic to fish, among other things, and he had extreme reactions to many environmental things that would require emergency care if ingested or exposed to at a high concentration.  He was on several medications for various things as well as monthly allergy injections and had many medical issues throughout his life.  He was the 2nd dog I started treating with PEMF therapy for a fused spine and neck injury and we figured out it helped greatly with his allergies!

Athena
7/8/2013 - 4/15/2023

Hurricane Athena Kirsch CGC, CGCA, CGCU

Athena

Athena, a German Shepherd, was actually a wedding present to ourselves because my husband grew up with a German Shepherd and it was a breed I had always wanted.  Athena also forced me to approach new training methods after she was attacked severely as a puppy by another dog, causing fear-based reactivity.  She never responded well to food or toys so praise is what she worked for, she loved being told how amazing she was.  She was a phenomenal scent work dog and she also trained in weight pull and obedience.  We lost her at just 9 years old suddenly to cancer.

Even with extensive training, Athena's reactivity had to be managed throughout her entire life.  She also had some medical issues and at the age of 5 she was diagnosed with severe arthritis in her spine.  She managed well, but would often need assistance getting into the car, among other places, and needed medication to help treat this condition.  She also was the first dog that got me started with PEMF therapy, which she received regularly throughout her life.
